Before the records: The loans that helped shaped Harry Kane

‘If you’d told me that Harry Kane would go on to become the most capped player and by far the greatest goalscorer we’d ever have based on his time at Leicester, I’d have laughed you out of the room.’

‘If you’d told me that Harry Kane would go on to become the most capped player and by far the greatest goalscorer we’d ever have based on his time at Leicester, I’d have laughed you out of the room.’

The above quote, from Andy Moore of the excellently-named Leicester City website For Fox Sake, and it sums up the general mood of Kane’s early career.

Many years before he gobbled up England records for breakfast, Kane found himself as a youngster heading around the Football League on loan. In search of experience in men’s football, he was sent out to Leyton Orient in 2011. At that point, Kane was 17 years old. Orient were playing in League One.
