Several of Thomas Tuchel’s key England players are edging back towards full fitness at precisely the right moment, offering encouragement ahead of the next international window.
Bukayo Saka, John Stones and Trevoh Chalobah are all moving in the right direction physically, but there’s still work to do and Tuchel’s focus will remain firmly on what they do next for their clubs in the push for domestic success.
Stones took a significant step forward by completing a full 90 minutes for Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final win over Southampton, captaining the side and showing no ill effects after his latest spell on the sidelines. His ability to offer something different to the rest of the squad means he’ll be a certainty provided he proves his fitness in the closing weeks of the season; regular minutes in City’s title run‑in would confirm his place.
