The dust has settled on the second of England’s Group L fixtures, and after some lively debate, it is clear that Thomas Tuchel does things his way. Of course, we are all wondering if that way will ultimately lead to a place in the final come July 19, or, as some are perhaps leaning towards, the inglorious exit during the knockout phase.
The goalless draw against Ghana led many to think “same old England” as they reverted to type. It would be hard to argue against that in the heat of the moment, but the fact remains that we still have the destiny of winning the group in our hands, and that was the first task (or second if you think that getting out of the group phase is good enough).
