27.10.26, 17:00 Updated 27.10.26, 15:58
A footballer's journey to reach the pinnacle of their profession doesn’t always come easy, and that is what makes it all the more worthwhile when it finally happens. Harry Kane is the perfect example of this.
The path has taken some detours to get to the crowning glory at the London Palladium on Monday night, but every twist and turn was worth it, as his name was read out by one of his idols, the Brazilian Ronaldo, to announce him as the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner.
Of course we all know him as England’s current captain and all-time leading goalscorer. Second to that, we know he is Bayern Munich’s talisman up front, and that he played for Tottenham Hotspur before his switch to the Bundesliga.
