Taking first steps in preparation for a third straight title
07.11.26, 13:03
England under-21s play a double header of matches next weekend at Bristol City. Ashton Gate. These games are the first, as Lee Carsley helps shape a squad that could make history by winning a third straight Championship.
Portugal and France provide the opposition; both nations have also qualified for the UEFA U21 Euro tournament to be played in Albania and Serbia next June.
First, they face Portugal on Friday night, then take on France on Monday evening.
The 24-man squad includes a handful of new players who could make an impression and earn a spot next summer. The headliner is Max Dowman, who, after bursting onto the scene during Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning run last season, was touted as a very wild-card addition to Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad.
