Nations League draw sees Lionesses renew some rivalries

With World Cup qualification still foremost in Sarina Wiegman's sights, the draw for the Nations League has France, Austria, and Portugal also lined up in the near future.

Somewhat under the radar was the draw for the third instalment of the Women's Nations League. Following the same premise as the men's format, it does offer a pathway to other tournaments, the 2028 Olympic Games and Euro 2029.

England have been drawn in Group A2 and will face to when the games start next year.  The windows for games are in February/March and April/June and will be played in a home-and-away format.

"We played Portugal before the last Euros, when we tied with them away and at home we beat them.”

Sarina Weigman

The draw puts the Lionesses against somewhat familiar opposition. They played Portugal in the last Nations League, and both France and Austria have been foes in other major tournament qualifying groups.
